The Generation Splice

Dec 13, 2020

This week Raquel and Raphael pick apart Bong Joon Ho’s 2020 instant masterpiece, PARASITE. Raquel is entranced and fascinated by the visuals of the film, while Raphael won’t shut up about late stage capitalism and it’s discontents. Listen to the two of them argue something well outside of both their knowledge: how Miranda rights work in South Korea. This is one of the longest, and most heated discussions in the history of The Generation Splice. Listen to a mom and her son manage to find a way to argue about a film they both really enjoyed.

The Generation Splice is film podcast where retired psychologist Dr. Raquel Martinez, a Baby Boomer through and through, and her son Raphael Jose Martinez, a cranky Millenial punk rocker, former music journalist, and current film writer, discuss various films through the lens of their generation & personal experiences. Every week one host picks a film for the two of them to dissect and see if they can splice together the generation gap via their love of the movies.

Feel free to write to us! Give us some film suggestions at generationsplice@gmail.com or @gensplicepod on Twitter.

Raphael is on Twitter at @citycelluloid. You can find his film writing at cinefile.info and film-cred.com

The show is produced by The Martinez Family & the show’s theme song was written, performed, & produced by Raphael.
